IBM and U.S. Air Force to Create New AI Supercomputer

    Date added: 2017-06-23

IBM Research and the U.S. Air Force Research Lab will build and deliver a powerful supercomputing system with low power fueled by the brain-inspired IBM TrueNorth Neurosynaptic System. The system IBM is developing for AFRL will feature a 64-chip array of the TrueNorth neurosynaptic AI processor and enable deep-network learning and information discovery. AFRL will use the system explore and prototype new technologies in embedded, mobile, autonomous settings where size, weight and power restraints are limiting the application of advanced pattern recognition and sensory processing.
