SPADE 2012

The theme of our 2012 conference will be "Smarter Defence: Optimise to Transform."

Defence forces face significant changes in the security landscape. They are also affected by the austerity measures across government organisations. This drives Defence organisations to optimise their resource allocation across a broad spectrum of activities. Increased emphasis will be placed on the need to collaborate between the services and with other nations and organisations, like NATO, to optimise capabilities. Defence forces must transform their processes and organisations to deal with this new environment and to perform their primary mission and tasks. Essentially, they must leverage existing resources to obtain new insights and capabilities.

The nature of the previous SPADE events was highly thematic with extensive delegate participation throughout. Or 11th SPADE will build on this format, providing a mixture of elective breakouts and plenary sessions focused on key defence issues and the solutions that are being applied. As with past conferences, the agenda has also been designed to provide plenty of time for informal networking and interaction between delegates.
