Partnering for a smarter planet. 2011 CSI Interchange.
The Interchange is IBM’s largest European Technical Conference designed specifically for IT Consultants, System Integrators and Outsourcers in the Computer Services Industry. The event was held on 25-27 May at the IBM Montpellier Product and Solutions Support Centre in the South of France. During these three days, Consultants and Integrators were updated on IBM’s strategy, solutions and technology, to identify areas and solutions where they can work together with IBM.
Our planet is becoming smarter. By smarter, we mean that intelligence is being infused into the systems and processes that make the world work— into things no one would recognise as computers: cars, appliances, roadways, power grids, clothes, even natural systems such as agriculture and waterways. Trillions of digital devices, connected through the Internet, are producing a vast ocean of data. And all this information—from the flow of markets to the pulse of societies—can be turned into knowledge because we now have the computational power and advanced analytics to make sense of it. With this knowledge we can reduce costs, cut waste, and improve the efficiency, productivity and quality of everything from companies to cities.
The signs of a smarter planet are all around us. Smarter systems are being implemented and are creating value in every major industry, across every region in both the developed and developing worlds. This idea isn’t a metaphor, or a vision, or a proposal— it’s a rapidly emerging reality.
The Interchange provided the opportunity to learn how IBM and IT Consultants, Integrators and/or Outsources can partner to build and manage smarter IT infrastructures and solutions by combining key strengths: their customer insight and services capabilities with IBM’s hardware and software technologies.
Main Tent Sessions
In the main tent sessions, key IBM leaders shared their vision around the smarter planet agenda and how IBM and IT Consultants and System Integrators can partner to deliver this vision. There were over 15 elective sessions during which key specialists discussed in detail the latest information about how IBM’s hardware and software technology can support IT Consultants and System Integrators customers in building and managing the IT infrastructure and solutions.
