IMS Worldwide Market Manager
On October 3, IBM announced more than 30 new and enhanced System z software products, including the IMS 13 Quality Partnership Program. 30 products in one announcement!
What that number reflects to me is the nature of System z, and its foundation for the many software products that collectively form a complete integrated IT enterprise.
There is interdependence and collaboration between so many of IBM's System z software products. If you look at the software architecture of our Enterprise clients, it's evident that the qualities of service delivered by IBM System z, combined with its software offerings, is much greater than the sum of its parts. For example, we just reported some exciting performance results from testing IMS 12 with the zEC12 in response to this blog post.
Integration has been a key focus area for IMS for several releases, and with IMS 13, we are extending our reach even further. To help the conversation, we just delivered a new white paper for Enterprise Architects, which highlights what they need to know about IMS from an enterprise integration perspective.
The reach that IMS has across the enterprise portfolio now solidifies its positioning as the hub of enterprise OLTP. IMS 12 was just certified as a data source for Cognos 10.2, which means that clients can now create drill-to-detail reporting applications that leverage IMS operational data. You can read about it here on developerWorks. We have clients leveraging WebSphere DataPower appliances in their IMS modernization solutions. IMS is also a supported data source for InfoSphere Discovery and InfoSphere Guardium.
The list goes on and on. More information on the exciting content of IMS 13 will follow, and we’ll be sharing that, and more, at IBM Information on Demand in Las Vegas!
