Two bits of news this week we talked about were Korean online trading company E*TRADE and insurance company AXA (lots of capital letters this week) signing contracts with IBM.
Before that though a short commercial break - Smarter Analytics Leadership Summit is live online next week - it's free so nothing to lose.
E*TRADE is picking up Power Sytems to replace Oracle/Sun thanks to IBM Business Partner LG CNS. For those that don't know, Korea currently has the second largest online trading market in the world.
Romania has only recently brought in laws to make home insurance compulsory that cover 3 million homes but the stats show that only around 500,000 actually have insurance. AXA is looking to expand its operations in Romania and migrate the client systems from Omniasig Life Insurance which is acquired back in 2009. Through the smarter computing approach IBM will provide systems integration and management services to help streamline risk management, consolidate data to provide the company with a single view of customers. The project will run through our data center in Petrom City.
Talking of data centers, research with IDC has shown that only 21% of 300 companies surveyed are running data centers at their highest efficiency. Here is an IDC paper on how business can improve the efficiencies of it's data centers.
