for Social Business – Why Perficient is excited about it!
By Michael Porter., Principal for Portal and Social
final blog post will be rather short because I’ve already spoken
about the value to partners and I shouldn’t repeat anything already
said. We do like the program for a number of reasons. Let me give
you the mix
forces us to grow: By grow I mean push ourselves. The easiest
thing for any services oriented firm to do is to sell our fantastic
resources. With more than 700 portal projects and 1.5 million hours
focused on portal and social in the last ten years, we can do that.
But reality and market forces constantly push us. It’s a “what
have you done for me lately?” kind of push. We can’t continue
to tell clients that things we did in a year four years ago will
still take a year. We, along with IBM, have to show greater
productivity for the investment companies put into efforts. Ready
for Social Business pushes us and other to bring well thought out
value added programs and functionality to bear.
- Differentiation: Okay, I’m repeating myself a little bit but not everyone can be the
best. Not everyone can be the best at everything. In our case, we
allocate resources to differentiate ourselves in the web and web
integration world. Being in the program plays into our stated
strategy of working in this niche.
Integration with IBM: Let’s face it, some of these software
solutions can become quite complex. With anything complex,
challenges arise. When it’s time to solve those challenges or to
ensure the product roadmap includes new functionality to meet those
needs, it’s great to talk to people within IBM to resolve them and
then improve the product. It’s not exactly stated or guaranteed
but the program will help us continue to work with IBM in this way.
So yes, we are excited about Ready for Social Business. Perficient looks forward to watching how the initiative grows and the improvements it will give our clients.
