Great ideas, Femke. One technique I learned in Toastmasters when giving feedback was to use the "sandwich" approach. 1) Mention something positive about what the person did/said/wrote, 2) Provide constructive criticism (not too many points at once), 3) Close with another positive comment. I liken it to the Mary Poppins' theory that "a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down." :-)

Yes, sugar coating can make things go down more easily. Being given to much sugar though might actually lull you into a sugar-coma and missing the point. It is a delicate balance :)
