Social Collaboration, the process of partnering digitally to achieve a common goal, is becoming more prevalent for companies of all shapes and sizes. In fact, IBM states “Whether it’s with customers, partners or employees, these organizations use collaboration tools to improve efficiency, solve problems, create opportunities, boost productivity and drive innovation, making them more competitive and successful.” If you don't believe me, take a look at the latest statistics from a quick Google search:
We saw it a few weeks ago at the IBM Connect show in Orlando: session topics ranged from social business to social media, and included everything in between. Different areas of social media were addressed, such as: “How to sell with a social tool,” and “How to convince your C-suite on the concept.” Just about everything that you could imagine in this realm.
The Social Cafe was all a-buzz on the trade show floor, and many attendees, including myself, spent a large portion of time in this area. There were daily contests (go @matnewman & Team Yellow, #1stIBMConnectLegoChampsEver!), a scrolling score board to show who was most active on social media (if only I had connected my account from day one… #hangsheadinshame) and the awesome 'Couch Talks' with @PamMktgNut and many more. I both learned and contributed more in those few days than I have in a while, and am excited for the next opportunity to do it again!
In thinking of how this all ties into our daily routines, I decided to write an article detailing how I’m currently managing a product build with the help of IBM Connections. When I took on a new role back in August, product manager of social business solutions, I needed a better way to organize all of the comments, feedback, files, suggestions and more. Using an ESN like IBM Connections was my only thought, and I pushed hard to get the adoption I needed to make it successful.
In this paper, I'll walk you through the thought process behind implementing the tool and how we both configured and monitored it in our environment, as well as both the challenges we faced and how we overcame them.
