Several years ago, the folks at Wellesley Information Services (WIS) launched LotusUserGroup.org as a way to support the Lotus community and user groups around the world who meet to collaborate locally and/or online. At the time, site members were primarily users of Notes and Domino. Over the last 8 years, user group membership has triple and IBM's portfolio has expanded considerably.
Today, just in time for IBM Connect, WIS is launching SocialBizUG.org, a new site that not only better reflects the broader IBM social business technology landscape, but also takes advantage of the collaborative capabilities of IBM solutions like IBM Connections and Domino XPages. More importantly, the site is supported by a team of online community experts who drive content creation, curation, and community engagement. IBM is proud to sponsor this effort, and I will be working closely with the SocialBizUG.org team to coordinate IBM Collaboration Solutions (ICS) community activities with those of the user group community. If you're at IBM Connect, be sure to look for people with SocialBizUG.org t-shirts who can share more about the user group community and make sure you're registered for the site.
SocialBizUG.org is the first publically-accessible user group community site using IBM Connections 4, giving members the ability to create profiles, connect with peers, read and write blogs, publish wikis, share files, and much more. Authentication is not required to search the site, so users can easily find available content, enabling broader audience reach and community growth.
Benefits of the new SocialBizUG.org site include:
Members of LotusUserGroup.org can visit SocialBizUG.org and log in using the same email and password from their Lotus User Group account. New members can register for their free accounts there as well. The site is a game-changer and giant step forward for the community focused on social business and IBM Collaboration Solutions.
Stay tuned to this blog for an invitation to our January 22nd IBM Collaboration Solutions community webcast where the team behind SocialBizUG.org will introduce you to the new site and answer any questions you have about the user group community.
