IBM SmartCloud for Social Business

News about using the cloud to become a social business is taking center stage today at Lotusphere.
Part of today's news started taking shape last fall. In October, IBM consolidated dozens of cloud initiatives and services under one umbrella, called IBM SmartCloud, which makes it easier for customers and partners to access and use cloud services. IBM SmartCloud delivers a range of capabilities built upon open standards and best practices learned from leveraging IBM’s portfolio of software, hardware, services and industry assets.
So, today we are announcing that IBM LotusLive is joining the IBM SmartCloud family. Over the coming weeks, IBM LotusLive will become IBM SmartCloud for Social Business.
More than a name change, this move later this quarter will enable the IBM SmartCloud for Social Business service to bring you a streamlined way to do business with IBM. From more flexible ways to purchase and renew services to being able to do so online with a credit card or purchase order, we have been working hard to improve how we work with our customers and partners.
Also later this quarter, you will notice changes to our Web site and social media channels.
Today there is no change to the way subscribers log-in and access their LotusLive services. During our planned release cycle this year, subscribers will begin to notice the name change within the service with new features and enhancements.
IBM Docs, formerly called IBM LotusLive Symphony, is coming in IBM SmartCloud for Social Business.
Now in public beta and planned for availability in 2012, IBM Docs is a social document platform that allows organizations, both inside and outside the firewall, to simultaneously collaborate on word processing, spreadsheet and presentation documents in the cloud to improve productivity. IBM Docs authors will be able to store and share documents in IBM SmartCloud Engage, co-edit documents in real time or assign users sections of the document so they can work privately easing the management of multiple revisions from multiple authors in team-based documents. Partner Guided Selling Tool
A new online Partner Guided Selling Tool for resellers and distributors to create and manage SaaS sales quotes and orders is on the way. The Partner Guided Selling Tool new tool will provide a coordinated process for VARs and VADs to work together to build quotes, place special bids, place orders, track service activation and manage customer billing.
The tool will auto-configure SaaS quotes by adding any required parts and guiding you through the various billing options associated with the SaaS parts. At the end of the process, it will generate a customer-ready sales quote. The tool provides additional options for distributors to submit special bids and track the provisioning status of a SaaS order.

We are also introducing the Social Business Toolkit for LotusLive. This will allow customers and business partners to integrate custom applications that interface with LotusLive services. Developers can use OpenSocial APIs to get access to LotusLive profiles contacts, meetings, files and communities data. Companies can add their own custom actions to the LotusLive web experience. Organizations can now easily deliver these applications into a single end user experience leveraging our standards-based extension points, authentication and encryption APIs.
