IBM Connect: Helping make a Smarter Workforce

One of the key messages of IBM Connect has been Smarter Workforce. It's a nice concept, but how do you get a smarter workforce? What does it look like? For managers, how can the benefits be measured? For staff, what's in it for me?
A little over three years ago I started blogging. I wasn't sure that I had anything people wanted to read. I hoped some day to speak at Lotusphere (as it was then). I wanted to give something back for what I had received over the previous eight years of Domino development. Pretty soon I started getting good feedback and comments on my blog. Those comments made me a smarter developer. Six months later I was speaking at my first Lotus User Group event and 18 months later I was speaking at Lotusphere 2011. My experiences attending those conferences and participating in many sessions have made me a better developer.
I sat in a session earlier this week and Tweeted, thanking Nathan Freeman for making me feel clever. A colleague from the community responded saying I was clever. I countered saying that hanging around clever people made me clever. But in order to meet with clever people, you need a community of experts, and fortunately in the IBM Social Business sphere we have a great community.
