IBM Announces Ready for Social Business
By Michael Porter, Principal for Portal and Social, Perficient
IBM constantly strives to improve how it meets customer’s needs. You can see this in the portal and social space alone with continual improvement to core products like WebSphere Portal. You can also see it in acquisitions like CoreMetrics and the introduction four years ago of IBM Connections. However, as happy as I am to see products improve, I know that a lot of the success comes from the correct implementation of it. When it comes to success, some consultants and systems integrators are more ready than others. It’s an aspect of preparedness and passion.
That’s why IBM created their new program, “Ready for Social Business.” When you look at social business solutions, the implementation world has changed. It’s no longer about backing up a truck and off-loading a bunch of developers to start coding. It’s about taking a product or set of products and configuring them for use. Yes, you still need development but the development is much smaller and the types of resources you bring to bear are different because you have more ready to go functionality.
In recognition of this IBM announced this program for those business partners who are ready take these products and bring more value.
So What Does This Mean for Businesses?
Basically any partner participating in this program come pre-screened with a level of experience and even solutions that enhance a number of key IBM products like WebSphere Portal, Web Content Manager, IBM Connections, IBM Forms, IBM’s Customer Experience Suite and a number of other products.
When it comes to key aspects of your social business, this partner will bring added value to you. In other words, they’ll bring experience and solutions to the table which will cut project time, decrease your services costs, or allow you to get more done in a shorter time frame.
As an IBM Business Partner I’m excited about this because it allows customers to differentiate both software and services solutions in the marketplace. Not all social business solutions are created equal and customers need markers to understand those differences. I’m excited for the program and to see where it takes us.
