Cloud technologies have had a profound impact on business computing, and business collaboration in particular. IBM continues to help customers innovate and transform using the Cloud. And the market has responded very positively. Just recently, IBM was cited as a leader in The Forrester Wave™: Cloud Strategies of Online Collaboration Software Vendors, 3Q 2012.
But Cloud technologies introduce a different way of thinking about IT services, and as a result, generate some real questions: security, privacy, migrations, quality of service, and more -- giving a lot of organizations pause. IBM also understands that many organizations still want some (or most) of their workloads kept on premises or in private hosting environments where they can exert a higher level of control and customization. There is no such thing as "one size fits all", and it's more complicated than it might seem to move certain workloads to the cloud, despite what many in the SaaS market would have you believe.
That is why deployment choice and flexibility are so important to making social business real for your organization. Many IBM offerings support virtualized environments, and have been made available in the Cloud as well. IBM Collaboration Solutions has supported virtualized and cloud environments, allowing for fully integrated hybrid / on premises deployments for the IBM Platform for Social Business, including IBM Notes / SmartCloud Notes, IBM Domino Enterprise Server / Domino for SmartCloud Enterprise+, and IBM Connections / SmartCloud Connectons, just for starters.
IBM made another leap forward in Cloud, particularly private cloud, with the creation of IBM PureSystems. IBM combined the flexibility of a general purpose system, the elasticity of cloud and the simplicity of an appliance in order to transform the IT lifecycle. IBM Collaboration Solutions have also begun to support this new model to provide even more deployment choice. First out of the gate was IBM Connections Hypervisor Edition. And as of July 9, 2013, IBM made available IBM Domino Hypervisor Edition.
With IBM Domino Hypervisor Edition, you can bring the power of a private cloud to your IBM Domino environment, and:
IBM is ready to help you become a social business, whether 100% in the cloud, 100% on premises, or anywhere in between. Visit ibm.com to learn more about IBM Domino Hypervisor Edition. And watch this quick demo on YouTube:
