In an earlier interview, IBM Director, Rebecca Buisan shared details about major updates to IBM SmartCloud Engage. In that interview she hinted there would be exciting updates in the second half of the year. She's ready to unveil some of those updates with IBM Social Business Insights, starting with the new audio conferencing service.
Rebecca, can you give us an overview of the new audio conferencing service?
We are really excited to announce that customers can now add audio conferencing capabilities to enhance their IBM SmartCloud Meetings experience. This means that in addition to being able to host online meetings with screen and application sharing, customers can now choose IBM to provide the voice conference bridge that everyone dials into. We're offering a fully integrated VoIP and toll/toll-free service so all participants can speak and listen from their phone or their computer. The service includes local and toll free dial-in support in over 50 countries. And users can access operator support in 18 different languages.
The new audio component can also be recorded. Recordings automatically capture both visual content being presented such as a slide presentation or a shared desktop as well as the audio from the associated audio conference. Recordings can be stored in either MOV or WMV format and then edited with standard third-party editing tools if desired.
What does this mean for customers?
IBM is offering enterprise-grade quality from a managed private audio network. The audio service is integrated into SmartCloud Meeting security, and all VoIP transmissions are fully encrypted. Businesses small and large can feel confident that IBM is protecting the privacy of their online meetings.
By taking advantage of this new offering, customers can eliminate managing multiple vendors, contracts, and invoices to serve their web conferencing needs, while enjoying a more tightly integrated audio experience during their meetings

Once customers sign up for the package of their choice, the audio conferencing capabilities are available immediately.
