Many of the news we have seen in the last days are already out and one has lots of options to read about this. The channel I prefer can be found here -> IBM Connect . But most important to me is the contacts and the people I do have the chance to talk to. We meet product managers and executives I talked to a lot of developers about the products and the enhancements I would love to see and some my customers said the would want in products. It is also great to talk with the business partners about new integrations and ideas they do have. I personally prefer the Innovation Lab on the first floor showing new ideas and functions that might make into a product. The openness and creativity is inspiring and it is a great feeling to be part of this creative process. I sense an excitement in the community of visitors that is way beyond the last years Lotusphere events.
For me this IBM Connect event is not about new functions and features and there are many really cool enhancements and features that are presented and release or will be in the next months. It is about the integration of the products delivering meaningful advantage to the business. Integration of a business workflow product into a social framework is not about the tooling functions it is about the enhancement of my work and integrated social information in context. I enjoyed the demonstration about the integration and usage of the products in business context and the value that turned out of this. Gerd Friedich, CIO of Bosch, shared his story of community and collaboration on stage on Monday in the OGS about reduce the time to reallocate production lines from 40 to 6 working days. To me this is a chance to bring back the spirit into IT and increase engagement and motivation for those delivering the infrastructure by show them what difference their work made to the business. I think we are entering the time where IT could be seen as partner and enabler supporting business success.Greets from Orlando
