Big data. Two words that are inescapable in today’s business world.
What do we really know about big data? We know that 90 percent of the world’s data has been created in the last two years alone. We know there are multiple uses for big data in every industry – from analyzing larger volumes of data to drive more precise answers, to analyzing data in motion to capture opportunities that were previously lost.
But knowing the benefits and applying it in practice are very different things. From an IBM research study conducted last year we learned that almost three-fifths of organizations are creating a competitive advantage with analytics. We also learned that big data is the next frontier that evolves the capabilities organizations have created while transforming their business intelligence platforms to create actionable insights.
Last year’s findings were key to helping us understand the initial plans organizations had for big data implementation.
So where do we stand one year later? That’s where we need your help.
New questions have surfaced including: What is the current state of big data activities and what do you have planned for the future? What are the key challenges preventing you from implementing big data platforms and applying best practices?
We invite you to participate in a new study developed by the IBM research team that will help us understand big data application across industries and benchmark the trends you need to understand most.
The survey, which can be found here, will take about 10 minutes of your time and your input is entirely confidential.
And, as a thank you for taking the survey, you'll have access to early survey results. You'll learn how leading organizations are tackling complex business challenges and more importantly, how you stack up to your competitors.
Study results will also be a major topic at the upcoming Information on Demand conference in October. We appreciate you giving us your perspective and time, and be sure to check back here for a recap of the findings!
