Time is a precious commodity. This truism has never been more accurate than in business today where today's winner can easily be tomorrow's novelty act leaving little tolerance for delays of any kind. Every minute lost is another minute your competition's gained ground. Further to this, customer expectations for service and quality are almost unachievable. As a result, our patience for slow-walked decision making and/or process-related speed-bumps is next to zero.
Enter IBM Concert.
In this post, IBM Product Marketing Manager Chad Peruba, uses an unfortunately all-too-common scenario in how business gets done. (Hopefully, this is unfamiliar territory to you but, odds are, it isn't.) Chad then introduces IBM Concert. This, you'll really want to pay attention to as it's about to transform the way businesses are run.
Here's Chad's blog post:
If you're like many business users today, too often it’s this scenario:
You have a business challenge and need to perform a task or business process. For users in finance this process could be something like performing profitability analysis, reviewing an operational model, or completing an expense forecast, but in any of these instances, too many times we’re starting with a spreadsheet.
...So you are working through your spreadsheet, and see an opportunity for improvement..possibly an area for future cost savings. You obviously want to share your findings with others to seek their input and guidance - how would you go about this?
Today, you'd probably start off by sending an email to your manager and/or peers, telling them about this great insight you've discovered, and flag the opportunity for improvements in the process.
Later that day you go back to email, and notice that no one has responded.
....So then you start making phone calls and wait some more. With no luck connecting, you send follow up emails, and make more calls.
By now, several days have passed, and you still can’t get input or consensus on your recommendation. But it’s not necessarily your manager/peers fault. They’re traveling, and in meetings, and dealing with 100 other tasks.
The result? Precious days or even weeks pass by without a decision being made.
But, it doesn't have to be this way!
