Guest post from Jennifer Schmitz, WW Market Segment Manager, IBM Business Analytics, Midmarket.
There’s big news in IBM Business Analytics: Amy Lewis, WW Midmarket Sales, Channels Executive, IBM Business Analytics, was named to the Top 50 Midmarket IT Vendor Executive list at the recent Gartner Midsize Enterprise Summit. Nominated along with Amy was Judy Smolski, Vice President, IBM Midmarket.
This exclusive list, which features the industry’s most influential vendor executives serving the midmarket and midsize customers, spotlights the professionals who are driving one of the most important customer segments in the analytics industry today. Having two top IBM executives share the spotlight for this inaugural award is a huge honor, and it points to the strength of the IBM midmarket portfolio.

As part of the Business Analytics Midmarket team, I'm particularly pleased to see Amy recognized for her successes. Her passion and commitment, as demonstrated during her more than 20 years in the business analytics, have paved the way for her success in this market. Amy is known and respected for her knowledge of the business analytics portfolio and has established herself as a consistent voice and key driver for the midmarket across IBM divisions.
I attended the conference at which Amy and Judy received their nominations. While there, I also had the privilege to talk face-to-face with leaders of many midmarket organizations. Conferences like this are a great opportunity for vendors like IBM to connect with senior IT decision-makers and better understand the specific challenges midsize organizations face.
This experience helped me learn about the top concerns keeping midmarket decision-makers up at night—including how to deal with big data, how to empower their business users with business analytics, and how trends like cloud and mobile can help drive efficiencies for their small staffs. Hearing this information first hand helps us to build strong, connected leaders like Amy and Judy. It also enables IBM build a strong midmarket portfolio that meets the needs of IT decision-makers across the midmarket.
