Yeah, I said it; BI can make you look better. Wondering how that works? Let me tell you.
It’s all about PERFORMANCE and we know that everyone likes to COMPARE, even if only secretly. We like to quote facts to impress others with our knowledge and we like to be able to prove how smart, fast and yes, how GOOD LOOKING we are. This week we are announcing version 1.1 of the IBM Business Intelligence Pattern with BLU Acceleration (BI with BLU)!
BI with BLU is a pretty interesting product – it combines speed and agility with terabyte data volume support. It’s available on an integrated system (IBM PureApplication System), with existing hardware via the IBM SmartCloud Orchestrator, and on the cloud via IBM PureApplication Service for Softlayer.
If we’re honest, it’s so EASY to deploy that a product manager can do it. It’s a rather transformative approach to high-speed, low-touch, enterprise business intelligence.
But, I digress, you are probably still waiting to find out how it can make BI Administrators better looking! In the spirit of much more important and earth shattering announcements, we have a cool tablet app!!!!! (Note: there is a web app too!)
PERFORMANCE MONITORING ANALYSIS is a capability of IBM Cognos Business Intelligence that is enabled by the IBM Business Intelligence Pattern with BLU Acceleration. Performance monitoring analysis (PMA) uses the best of IBM RAVE visualizations to report in real-time on the internal data generated by new instrumentation in the IBM Cognos BI products. We’re talking about BI on BI.
Anyone who has ever managed a BI system has had to live the nightmare of users complaining about performance, the hassles of stopping systems, increasing log levels, reproducing issues and sifting through log files to discover that the issue reported is a result of misuse, education gaps, user errors, or even software and system configuration. Then there is the added issue of your system having a bad reputation. Well, THAT ENDS NOW.
To make our point abundantly clear, we’ll offer the statement from the Forrester report Benchmark Your BI Environment (2 Oct 2013) that says, “BI professionals need to practice what they preach and quantitatively measure their BI performance to determine how efficient and effective their BI environment is.”
With PMA you can stay on top of your system performance. When a user sees performance they don’t like they can reach out and you can triage together in real-time, from your mobile device or your browser. You’ll look better to your users and better to your boss.
After all, there’s no reason we can’t all get along.
