A lot can happen in two weeks, especially when you're not paying attention. Since returning yesterday from my cross-Canada sojourn, I've discovered that the Information On Demand and Business Analytics Forum teams have secured not one, but two excellent keynote speakers in Stephen J. Dubner and Steven D. Levitt.
Best known as the co-authors of Freakonomics (in its 11th printing) and the more recent Superfreakonomics (nine months and counting on the NYT Best-seller List), these two distinguished professionals are now set to be bona fide movie stars with the release of the new Freakonomics documentary. Here's the trailer:
I'm pretty excited about this, especially now that I've registered for the conference. I've long championed Freakonomics as essential reading for business analytics professionals and I know their presentation is bound to be great - Levitt gave a revelatory address at a Gartner BI Summit that I attended a while back, and we interviewed Stephen Dubner for BI Radio prior to the launch of Superfreakonomics. Since it went up it's been one of our most popular segments.
October is shaping up to be one pretty exciting month. Will you be joining us?
