Part of the fun of this job is meeting people who are seriously passionate about our products and have no trouble telling the world about them. These people are truly a joy to work with. Today, to say "thank you," I present the first in what I hope will be a series of profiles of IBM Business Analytics Pros. If you know anyone like this, or would like to be profiled too, send me a note and I'll send you the questionnaire. It's a pretty painless procedure with nothing but upside.
Name: Nitin Gadhe
Occupation: Analyst, Cybage Software pvt ltd.
Previous work: Eight years' experience in data warehousing and business intelligence, including positions at Infosys Technologies, Fujitsu and Parry Phytoremedies for clients including Pfizer, Novartis, UBS and Invitrogen
What's your experience with IBM Cognos products? How long have you been using them? In what capacity? I have worked on most of the IBM Cognos components including Impromptu, PowerPlay, ReportNet and Cognos 8 BI for almost eight years. IBM Cognos software are some of the best tools available in the market, with the best features for dashboards, scorecards, planning, bugeting, forecasting and reporting, and compatible with most of the third party databases and OLAP solutions. It’s a one-click business intelligence solution.
How are you involved with IBM Cognos software now? Project Estimation and Project Management Plans for Cognos Datawarehousing and Business Intelligence projects. I specialize in DW design, DW engineering, EDW Project management, integration and tuning, and development of decision support systems in platform and technology-agnostic consulting engagements. This encompass tuning very large databases.
How many IBM Cognos communities do you manage? I have some groups on professional and social networks which help people share tips and tricks and grow their professional network:
You can also email me for more details.
What led you to start these communities? When I was working as an IBM Cognos report author, whenever I was facing an issue I'd log a ticket with Cognos support and my development work would stop. I felt that we should have a network of IBM Cognos professionals. At the time it wasn't possible but since then I started the group on Facebook, where I would provide answers to users' questions. After that I I heard about IBM developerWorks, so I started a group there, which we call a "smart intelligence professional network" for IBM Cognos people to share knowledge and there experience with IBM Cognos products. It helps people understand the products in a more real-time scenario. Thus a new era began in the IBM Cognos world for support, guidance.
What do you hope to achieve through them? One point of contact for IBM Cognos people to help them develop their skills to the next level.
Where do you want to see IBM Cognos products going next? As always, I want to see them as the best business intelligence solution provider in the world of Information management systems.
