IBM Social Software Bigshot
We're told that about 30% of the Australian Bureau of Statistics' employees are using IBM Lotus Connections. Since the ABS is also a proud Lotus Notes user, Lotus Connections is a great way for the Bureau to extend those existing collaborative investments and skills.
Security is an imperative for both businesses and public sector agencies like the ABS, and we hear that the bureau has been looking for some time for a way to embrace new technologies -- like blogs and wikis and such -- without sacrificing security.
ABS needed a more modern and efficient way to collaborate on documents, and Lotus Connections blogs and wikis fit the bill.
More and more public sector and government agencies are looking at social software as a way to adapt to changes in workforce dynamics, boost productivity, and get on the "open government" bandwagon that is becoming de rigeur.
