Today, I wanted to talk with you about the open beta of IBM Smart Business Development and Test on the IBM Cloud, or simply Developer Cloud, which launched in October of this year.
Cloud computing is a natural fit for development and test environments because they must accommodate a higher rate of change and a higher diversity of components than production systems. And traditional development and test systems are often idle, creating a strong business case for the cloud.
The beta offers an intuitive Web 2.0 interface that allows you to instantly provision, manage, and enjoy root access to virtual machines based on an expanding menu of software choices.
With just a few mouse clicks, for instance, you can provision a Rational Team Concert server and start setting up your teams, projects, and access controls. Included are powerful Application Lifecycle Management tools from Rational Software that run in and interact with the Cloud.
The beta is currently free of charge and available in over a hundred countries worldwide. There’s no catch – check it out and tell us what you think. The URL is ibm.com/cloud/developer
