Interesting item I overlooked at Oracle World last month
At Oracle Open World - IBM System x announces the first Oracle VM benchmark ever posted by any vendor.
IBM working with Oracle was able to collaspe an entire JD Edwards classic 3-tier architecture onto a single x3650 M2 server using Oracle VM. Oracle then took the "Day in a life" JD Edwards benchmark kit and run this workload on the server driving up to 700 users with a sub-second response time. Rumor has it that IBM is looking to expand upon this initial posting in the next couple of months.
Customers same money purchasing only 1 server instead of one per tier, and no need for external storage as the x3650 M2 can house up to 1.7TB of internal storage. This is an excellent choice for small to medium business customers and really any current JD Edwards shoudl take a serious look at this solution. This chart illustrates.
