That is quite the setup.

 
However, the DS3524 when configured with dual SAS controllers and each node having two SAS HBAs plugged in eliminates the need for the switches, reduces complexity, and _greatly_ increases I/O performance over iSCSI.
 
Aggregate bandwidth for four 6Gbit SAS connections is 96Gbit with virtually _no_ latency.
 
Plus, configuring MPIO in Windows Server 2008 RTM/R2 and Windows Server 2012 RTM/R2 is greatly simplified so long as the IBM DSM is already a part of the Windows OS (as our own configurations have demonstrated on alternative vendor's products).
