The IBM Flex System CN4054 10Gb Virtual Fabric Adapter is a 4-port 10Gb converged network adapter for Intel Xeon processor-based compute nodes such as the Flex System x240 or Flex System x220. The adapter scales to up to 16 virtual ports and supports 10 Gb Ethernet, iSCSI, and FCoE.
The iSCSI and FCoE support is optional and enabled via a license key using the IBM Features on Demand process whereby you purchase an activation key, apply the Integrated Management Module (IMM2) web interface and the feature is enabled on the card.
Unlike other Features on Demand-enabled components, the CN4054 requires two activation keys to fully activate the FCoE or iSCSI hardware support, one key for each ASIC on the adapter.
So when you order the FCoE upgrade, using option CN4054 Virtual Fabric Adapter Upgrade, part number 90Y3558 or feature code A1R0, you are entitled to two keys per order. Each key activates the two ports on one ASIC. To enable all four ports on the adapter, you must use both keys.
Up until recently, ordering this part number or feature code only got you one key. So if you’re in that situation, and were only able to activate two ports, you can now go back to the Features on Demand web site, log in, using the original authorization code you got, you can now get the second activation key. You don't need to buy an extra key.
