What is the best vacation for you? Me? Or anyone?
When attempting to research or book a vacation online, it’s often one of two types of experiences: 1) the decision is made for you based on few or no inputs; or 2) you’re given lots of information to make your own decision. Either way it’s not always the most satisfying experience or outcome.
Listen to the vice president of IT of Apple Vacations talk about how they’re using business rules as part of a decision management system to revolutionize self-service for their customers – how they went from a system that inadequately supported the complex decision of choosing the right leisure vacation to a SMARTer system that was designed starting with the decisions that are made when purchasing a vacation, then building the processes to support that decision making. You’ll see how Apple Vacations approached their Decision Discovery to identify those key decisions that needed to be automated first; those that would ultimately act as a smart travel agent.
