What magical number is 23 + 13 = ?
You don't have to be a math whiz to know that 23+13 = 36. So what is so magical about the number 36? Thirty-six is the number of IBM/Tivoli User Groups who have qualified for a Premier Status within the Tivoli User Community program for the 2009/2010 year.
As the Global Tivoli User Community Program manager it's exciting to see that last year we had 23 user groups qualify but this year brought 13 more groups within the fold. These 36 user groups had membership growth rates of 25%+ or have sustained 200+ members along with hosting 2 or more constructive meetings per year. In addition, these groups have strong, stable and proactive customer leadership. It is very apparent that these groups are truly the backbone of the user community.
For achieving this status, each of these groups will receive "appreciation gifts" to give away at their meetings and a Tivoli Executive assigned to their user group to speak or attend a meeting. What did you say?...Are Tivoli User Groups dead?...NO WAY!
In fact, with the 23,000+ members around the world and the 140+ local and virtual user groups around Automation, Storage, Security and Asset, the community is as live as it has ever been.
As the Global Tivoli User Community Manager, I wanted to share with you a few interesting facts:
FACT: 15+ User Groups formed in 2009
FACT: Most user groups try to have a physical meeting 1-2 times a year
FACT: 16 User Groups held a meeting in July and August, usually a very quite period for the Northern Hemisphere of the world.
FACT: 38+ user group meetings already scheduled for Sept - Dec. Much more to be scheduled!
FACT: 134 questions asked in July and August using the Q&A tool of the Peer to Peer Knowledge Exchange
FACT: 47 comments have been made by 19 people, using the "Be Heard" capability on www.tivoli-ug.org in July and August
So while the "slow" summer is almost over and fall is fast approaching, user group leaders are feverishly working on setting up local user group meetings and virtual meetings via conference calls before the end of the year and the upcoming Pulse Conference in Las Vegas.
