I arrived in Vegas for the Pulse conference on Friday. I was able to register for the MGM at the airport right next to baggage claim and catch a round-trip shuttle for only $15. This saved me any lines when I actually arrived at the hotel. Sweet!
However, while following the tweets around Pulse, I noticed a pretty big difference in responses to hotel rooms depending on whether one was staying at MGM Grand or Signature.
Pulse attendess praise the MGM Signature hotel rooms because they provide guest areas, kitchenettes, coffee makers, adjustable flat-screen TVs, DVD players, hot tubs, free wi-fi and water, and two fitness centers. Personally, I enjoy the fresh peach roses surrounding key walkways. :) Some of these amenities come at an extra cost to Signature guests--a $20/day resort fee.
While folks staying at the MGM Grand commonly report that the hotel rooms are adequate (even without the extra Signature features), but are missing coffee pots! Coffee in hotel rooms should be standard practice. One saving grace is that there are numerous Starbucks throughout MGM Grand.
So far I only have 2 personal complaints with my stay at the MGM Grand: The smoke in the casinos really hurts my eyes and throat, and my youthful gang of neighbors across the hall kept me up until 6 am with their loud, crazy antics! I just don’t like the competition. ;) Thank goodness they are checking out tomorrow.

Pulse has passed, but if you missed the big show in Orlando you can still get a piece of the pie. The IBM Service Management World Tour is coming to a city near you this summer. Check out Bob Pickard's ISM blog and then you can register to attend on the ISM World Tour Page.
According to Bob, the Tour is "a perfect follow-on to Pulse", " a series of hard-hitting one-day events held in smaller settings where you can get some serious face-to-face time with service management gurus" that "delivers in-depth presentations on the latest IBM solutions and approaches in service management, storage management, enterprise asset management, and System z."
If you can't make it out to one of the ISM World Tour dates, you can download most of the Pulse 2008 presentations from http://www-306.ibm.com/software/tivoli/pulse08/.
And if that just won't satisfy your craving for more Pulse, something very sweet is on the way!
To find out what it is, check back on The Pulse Website or this Pulse blog very soon.

One of the hopping places at Pulse for the last two years has been the Pulse Client Hospitality Lounge. Conference attendees hang out there to relax between sessions, sink into one of the comfortable sofas, and grab a snack or cold beverage while checking messages or networking with colleagues. The Lounge is one way of IBM saying "Thank You" for being a part of our community. When clients sign up to be a reference, update their current solution information, or join a user community group, they received a free gift.
If you're planning on attending Pulse 2010, I encourage you to drop by the Client Hospitality and ask for details when you register at the conference. A bonus treat: You might just be able to "hang" with the two wonderful ladies below--Danyel Otteson (Tivoli User Communities) and Laura Wilkens (Tivoli Client Success Marketing).
-->See examples of other IBM client success stories
To participate in the IBM client reference program, contact your IBM representative, IBM Business Partner or e-mail IBM at email@example.com.

I spent much of today registering for Pulse, getting a sense of the conference layout, and grabbing a sneak peek of the Expo and General session areas. Here's a little preview below.
Barbara, at the registration desk, checked me in and gave me my nifty Pulse badge, cool Pulse bag, which contains the conference agenda, virtual Pulse Expo CD, hand sanitizer, and various fliers.
While registering, I checked out the Pulse bookstore and Pulse logo store. I couldn’t resist picking up a cool girly IBM hat and an IBM beanie baby bee for my son. Ok, maybe the bee is for me. ;) I received a free Pulse bag with my purchase.
When I was checking out the Pulse online area where attendees can check announcements and messages and complete Pulse surveys, I discovered that AllianceTech has a daily drawing for an iPod Touch giveaway based on the completion of Pulse session surveys. Learn more by visiting the laptops against the wall across from the Pulse registration area.
