A few days ago, I asked for some feedback on PCTY in India this week. I came across the following bits from PCTY in India that caught my attention and I thought, "Why not share them with my little monsters blog readers?" (Sorry - too much Lady Gaga on the running trial this week.)
These are all re-Tweets from the Tivoli team in India reporting live this week. If you want to read more about the action from PCTY India, visit http://www.tivoliindia.com and http://ow.ly/29l9X for the entire event wrap up.
Latest Analyst Insights
Industrial Expertise and Technology presented at PCTY in India
Guest speaker, Chetan Bhagat
I would love to comment on what I think about all this stuff, but I would really like to hear what others think, especially about Mr. Bhagat's idea on studying Humanties, most of the future growth in IT coming out of emerging markets, and business priorities returning to pre-recession status. Comment here or out in the Twitter space with the hashtag #ibmpulse or #tivoliindia.

If you ever read this blog before, you already know that many of the guest celebrity speakers that have joined the Pulse or PCTY agenda have written at least one book. While the subject matter of the books by our guest speakers are mainly biographical with commentary on business, culture, and politics, none of our past speakers have been primarily fiction writers. This makes a lot of sense because we don’t do fiction at Pulse. On the contrary, we make great effort to demonstrate the reality of how Integrated Service Management is helping to build a smarter planet today.
Our colleagues in India are getting innovative with the recipe this week at PCTY in Delhi and Mumbai and are hosting guest speaker Chetan Bhagat, the best selling English language novelist in India’s history.
As a big fan of the first amendment to the US Constitution and the innate desire for humans to communicate thoughts, given the choice between resting idle or reading what is handed to me, I’ll read anything from a toddler’s board book to an electronics catalogue. However, like a moth to the flame, the fiction junkie in me is drawn to made-up stories of all genres. Naturally I am intrigued by the choice in celebrity guest speaker at PCTY India.
If you are lucky enough to attend PCTY in Delhi or Mumbai this week, give us your feedback on anything from the latest analyst insights, industrial expertise, technology and service offerings presented by the Tivoli team in India, and of course guest speaker, Chetan Bhagat, who plans to deliver a satirical speech about, “Riding out the Tough Times.”
I haven’t yet read anything by Mr. Bhagat, but I do know that I care not to ride out any tough time without the accompaniment of satire.

When you come down for your morning coffee at 6:30 am and your Droid is already buzzing and beeping away you know something unusual is happening.
While my brain struggled to solve this pre-caffeination riddle, I fumbled around in the dark for a mug and the Droid begging for attention. I was slightly aware that the offending sounds could indicate a range of situations from the sinister (an alien space ship hovering over my roof) to the miraculous (Mom won the lottery and is splitting winnings with me - YAY!).
Urgent or not, I wasn't capable of absorbing more than every fifth word I read until imbibing my daily dose of jet fuel. I'm quite certain there will never be any technological advancement smart enough to alter this habit.
By the time I managed half a cup and revved up the ThinkPad, there were at least 10 more notifications - all accompanied by the hashtag #pctyuk. And since none of the tweets indicated any buildings on fire, I felt confident that PCTY UK was a smashing success.
Here are a few highlights that demonstrate WHY the topic of Pulse, Integrated Service Management, is garnering so much buzz. I could tell you all day long, but our clients and business partners are much more qualified and therefore, credible, than this humble IBM blogger.
On the other hand, if you DO want to hear from IBM Top Brass on why IBM believes organizations need a smarter business infrastructure that integrates business, operations, IT and services, look here and register for the closest Pulse Comes to You event in 2010:

This week Pulse Comes to You will take place 26 May in Stockholm. The event will not only take place in Stockholm, as IBM Sweden will live stream the main sessions in English before lunch and also the security tracks after lunch, (but those tracks will be in Swedish).
Jean-Pierre Garbani , Vice President, Principal Analyst, Forrester will start the event presenting Smart Infrastructure Require IT Management 2.0 The transformation of IT into a service provider and on to a business partner is happening! Within this transformation, technology is only one element of the equation. To be successful IT needs to re-evaluate how they are organized, how they provide quality of services and how they manage these services all in coordination with each other. The drive to industrialize IT is demanding a new paradigm of IT Management.
Keynote speaker for the event will be Steven Sorce, Vice President Tivoli Sales, Northeast Europe.
Follow the event on Twitter by using #ibmevent_se in your tweet.
Welcome to join us at the event!

Last February, we introduced Integrated Service Management at Pulse 2010 to an audience of 5500 from 66 countries worldwide to demonstrate how a dynamic infrastructure can provide the Visibility, Control and Automation businesses need to deliver innovative services and better serve customers on a Smarter Planet. Now we are bringing Integrated Service Management around the world with Pulse Comes to You (PCTY) 2010 local events.
But what is Integrated Service Management?
Integrated Service Management enables organizations to deliver innovative services by providing Visibility. Control. and Automation.™ across their business. It provides the software, best practices and expertise to manage infrastructure, people and processes in the data center, across design and delivery, and tailored for specific industry requirements. At PCTY 2010, IBM Executives and Industry Leaders will share how Integrated Service Management can help IT, Line of Business, and C-level audiences deliver quality services, manage risk and compliance, optimize business investments and accelerate business growth. More will be announced as commitments are finalized. For additional dates already scheduled, check the Pulse Comes to You (PCTY) 2010 website.

When I first heard someone say, “40 is the new 20!” I figured that person was the "YAY! My glass is half full!" sort of who didn’t care to see 20 again perhaps because they became a little bit smarter over the years.
If Earth Day was a real person, would it be sulking in a corner, scowling, "GET AWAY!" when Arbor Day and Valentines Day bopped in with black balloons a giant shiny "OVER THE HILL
Or would it be all, "WOO-HOO! Whose taking me out for a spring water cocktail after work?" (No. Earth Day does not do Jager-bombs. I don’t even want to think about how many kinds of wrong that would be . . .)
From a personal perspective (which I do not technically qualify to have since I have not yet gone over the hill reached 40 years), I would wager that Earth Day would be having more than one of those spring water cocktails during happy hour today. True, a famous friend of ours is trying to convince the world that MORE NEEDS TO BE DONE YESTERDAY BECAUSE MIAMI AND NEW YORK AND SOME OTHER AWESOME PLACES NOT IN THE US ARE GOING TO GET WASTED BY A GLACIER TIDAL WAVE BEFORE YOU CAN SAY WIPEOUT. The jury is still out on that and the Mayan 2012 theory.
However, like our famous friend, most SANE people agree that the need for smarter use of resources is indisputable. Except for the dude who is still topping off his 4 mile-to-the-gallon 1981 SUV Dinosaur-mobile after litter-bugging plastic water bottles out of his window (I call that Messing With Texas no matter where you do it.) He probably also denies that dinosaurs ever existed or that they all got dead because they ate themselves out of house and home. Or maybe it was a dinosaur-hating meteor passing by who was like, "POW! Take that, giant lizards!"
But getting pwned by a meteor is a digression from the point of this post and leaves no room for behavior modification. I may be a “YAY! The glass is half full” person but I do believe Earth Day prefers 2010 over 1990 because the planet is getting smarter. Look here: the proof is in the code.
Here at IBM, we are all for behavior modification for a Smarter Planet. Come see us at your local Pulse Comes to You event to learn more about building a smarter planet with IBM Software.
Happy Birthday Earth Day! IBM's got your back.
