Who's Talkin' Cloud?
Recently, IBM's own Sandy Carter spoke with Talkin' Cloud
, the sister site of The VAR Guy
, about what IBM sees as the three major cloud computing opportunities for IBM Business Partners. Carter defined three areas as major focuses for IBM partners in 2011 and beyond: Cloud Architecture, Public Clouds and Private Clouds. Carter defines the latter as the greatest opportunity for IBM partners, but she discusses all three opportunities in detail in this great video, also provided by Talkin' Cloud:
How Can IBM Partners Get Involved?
IBM has some great resources out there to help you leverage the opportunities identified in the blog post. Here's three ways you can get involved in the cloud opportunity:
- Visit the Cloud Resource Center: IBM has build a slew of web resources to help business partners understand the cloud opportunity and figure out how to get started. For a more hands-on approach, you can also visit the Cloud Computing Lab at the IBM Innovation Center in Hursey, England, which offers partners the facilities to develop and test new cloud services, as well as the opportunity to fine tune the sales and marketing skills they will need to take advantage of the growing market for cloud.
- Participate in Cool Cloud Cash Workshops: IBM frequently runs workshops like the one detailed in Mary Hall's blog post. If you can't make it in person, you can also check PartnerWorld's Business Partner Cloud Resource Center for workshop replays, whitepapers, and other cloud information.
- Get Authorized: IBM recently announced a Software Value Plus Security Authorization, which prepares partners to sell integrated security solutions including those related to the cloud. For more information on the new Security Authorization, you can also register for the upcoming IBM Business Partner 2011 Kick-off Virtual Event, where IBM executives will address the latest news to help IBM partners grow their businesses in 2011.
