Information on Demand 2011 is finally upon us! The event begins this
Saturday, October 22, with the Business Partner Summit, and I'm happy to
report that I'll be attending this year. For those of you who are also
planning on attending, here's a quick look at some of the highlights
that I'm most looking forward to:
On Saturday, we kick off IOD 2011 with the Business Analytics Forum portion of the Business Partner Summit
. If you're going to attend any portion of the BA Forum, the keynote, which starts at 9:30 am PDT, is definitely the session to attend. If you feeling like getting into something a little more laid back, later in the day we'll be hosting a reception for all IBM Business Partners attending the Summit, and that will be a great opportunity to network with IBMers and other partners. The reception starts at 7:30 in South Seas F.
Sunday is the main event for IBM Business Partners. I recommend you start the day with the Business Partner Summit Opening Session
, which will feature guest appearances from IBM execs, including our very own Mark Register
, as well as several Business Partners. This is the place to come away with a high level overview of key themes for the conference, as well as strategic priorities for the coming year. Later in the day, the other two tracks -- Information Management and Enterprise Content Management -- will each have their keynotes. In the afternoon, there are a ton of really great breakout sessions, but two in particular top my list. The first is the Cool Cloud Cash Workshop at 2:15 pm in South Seas C. This workshop provides a really great overview of the cloud opportunity, as well as resources that Business Partners can leverage to get started. Then, at 3:30 pm in the same location, IBM VP Shaun Jones
will host a session on Getting More Bang for Your Marketing Buck. I've seen his sessions before, and they're really great -- partners always tell us they've walked away feeling like they've learned something new about PartnerWorld resources. In the evening, if you're not already totally exhausted, there is also a welcome reception for the Expo opening on the Expo floor from 6-8.
The customer-facing portion of Information on Demand begins on Monday. The Opening General Session
is usually a showstopper, so I'd recommend checking that out. In addition, The Business Partner Cafe
will be open for the first full day. If you don't visit on Monday, you should make it a point stop by at some point during the conference. Hours are:
- Sunday 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
- Monday 10:30 am - 5:00 pm
- Tuesday 10:30 am - 5:00 pm
- Wednesday 10:00 am - 3:30 pm
I'll be hanging out in the Cafe Monday through Wednesday, sharing my expertise with Business Partners who want to learn more about social media and how to use it for demand generation. There will also be 17 other experts on hand who can help you find the right resources on PartnerWorld, IBM acquisitions, midmarket, ASL, Subscriptions & Support and more. You can download the BP Cafe flyer
for full details.
With things slowly winding down at the conference, today might be a good day to take a certification exam
. In fact, IBM is offering up to three complimentary certification exams for Information Management, Business Analytics and Enterprise Content Management. Other exams can also be taken at a significant discount.
If you haven't passed out from sheer exhaustion, kudos! There's a birds-of-a-feather lunch you can check out, as well as yet more breakout sessions where you can cram in some last minute learning.
And...for those of you who are not attending Information on Demand 2011, you don't have to miss out. Thanks to modern technology, there are lots of different ways you can follow the action. Here's my top three:
Don't forget to come visit me in the Business Partner Cafe. See you in Vegas!
