IBM is looking for a few global entrepreneurs to help build a Smarter Planet.
Through the IBM SmartCamp program, IBM plans to connect startups, investors, students, academics and technology experts, fostering the collaboration and innovation required to do just that. IBM SmartCamp is a mentoring and networking event aimed at identifying early stage technology entrepreneurs who are tackling some of the biggest global challenges; for example, healthcare, water management and efficient energy resources. IBM SmartCamp events search the globe, choosing the top entrepreneurs and rewarding the winners with mentoring services, access to experts and opportunities to work more closely with IBM, investors and industry partners. Since the program's inception in 2012, finalists have gone on to generate more than $50 million in VC/Angel funding, and more than 400 experienced mentors have given their time to work with participating companies.
The road to the IBM SmartCamp finals begins with four regional events worldwide, with the first 2012 regional final to begin later this week. Here is the schedule for regional finals:
Participants from each of the four regional events will be selected to participate in the 2012 finals. If you are interested in participating, here is still time to register for IBM SmartCamp Boston. Registration for the Beijing, Berlin and São Paulo events is not yet open, but interested participants can bookmark the IBM SmartCamp web page, where registration will be announced soon.
For more information, you can check out videos of last year's finalists, visit the IBM SmartCamp blog to see who is already signed up for the Boston event, or follow @IBMSmartCamp on Twitter for real-time updates as the regionals progress. Looking forward to seeing what this year's participants will contribute!
