Believe it or not, IBMers know how to party.
This year marks IBM's 100th year as a corporation, and we've been celebrating all year. A host of activities
, including local events, lecture series and colloquia, have paid tribute to this momentous occasion in IBM's history. IBMers from all over the globe have joined in our Celebration of Service
, pledging service hours to the communities where they live and work. All of this is leading up to the big day on June 16th, when IBM Chairman and CEO Sam Palmisano will ring the opening bell at the NYSE, commemorating the official date when IBM reaches the 100 year mark.
But what about our Business Partners? Well, they know how to party, too!
IBM partners play a vital role in our business, and they have been joining in the celebration right along with us, which we're really excited about. Many have registered for the Celebration of Service
and are joining in Day of Service activities with us on June 15th. In fact, IBM Business Partners have already pledged over 3,000 hours to help with local service projects. (For more information on how to join, reach out to your local IBM rep, or check out my previous post
on the Celebration of Service.)
In addition, here at IBM, we've noticed an interesting phenomenon. The most popular way to celebrate the centennial, by far, has been...well...CAKE! In fact, IBM-branded cakes are all the rage, and they seem to be popping up at lots of our business partners' events. Check out the photo evidence.

So, what do we think of this phenomenon? When it comes to celebrating IBM's Centennial...let them eat cake! Well, of course...so long as they save a piece for me. Especially vanilla with chocolate frosting.
If you've got other great Centennial cake pictures, or would like to share another example how your company has joined in the Centennial celebration, please feel free to share them with me...I would love to post them on this blog. If you've participated in the Celebration of Service, you can also upload them to the IBM 100 site
. We appreciate everything our Business Partners have done to help bring IBM to this day, and you deserve some recognition!
