How to Make Sure Your Company is Listed in IBM's Business Partner Locator

The Business Partner Locator is one of the primary ways that both customers, IBMers and other partners can find you when they visit IBM's website. So, it's understandable why most IBM Business Partners would want to be listed there. It's also understandable why they might be frustrated if they checked the BP Locator and found out that they weren't listed.
In fact, my colleague, Terry Copeland, who is an expert on PartnerWorld tools, tells me that one of the most frequently asked questions he gets from Business Partners is: "Why isn't my company listed in the Business Partner Locator?" And Terry tells me that even though it can be a potentially frustrating problem, the fix is actually very simple. Here's how it works.
In order to make sure that your information is listed in the Business Partner Locator, you'll need to update your information in the back-end system that populates it: the Partner Profiling System (PPS). Your company will only be visible if you agree to publish and make visible your information to both Business Partner and customers. Not sure if your company's visibility settings are correct? Only the Primary Relationship Contact or Authorized Profile Administrator will be able to make changes for your company, so you should have that person check for you, but here's the step by step process on how to make changes to your profile in PPS:
As a side note, you'll only be able to make changes to your profile if you are a PartnerWorld member, so if you aren't a member, you should join IBM PartnerWorld first.
While we're on the subject of editing your profile information, I'd like to emphasize how important it is to keep your profile up-to-date in PPS. PPS does not affect just the Business Partner Locator, but lots of other systems as well, including your entitlement to certain content and benefits on PartnerWorld (based on your membership level), as well as your access into other Business Partner applications like System Sales and Global Partner Portal, so it can affect, for example, which leads IBM will pass to your company. Therefore, it's critical to make sure that you keep your company's location, certification, employee and other information current. Although IBM will send you periodic reminders, the onus for keep your profile up to date is up to you, so if you're the Primary Relationship Contact or an Authorized Profile Administrator, I'd recommend setting yourself a periodic recurring reminder in your calendar just to make sure your profile stays current.
