In my last blog I referred to a study by the Aberdeen Group, clearly showing that those organisations that are advanced in using Analytics to make decisions throughout their organisation are outperforming those that are not. This study showed that this is also true for SMB organisations, such as are prevalent here in New Zealand.
So how can we rate how our organisations are doing in the use of analytics? Is your organisation already mature in analytics, and so can look for areas to leverage and expand, or has it just started the journey down the analytics path? The good news is there is now a standardised way to rate your current capability, and its called your Analytics Quotient, or AQ.
The following video gives an excellent introduction to the theme of the Analytics Quotient, with real customers that have gone through the free, online assessment.
IBM has also produced the following whitepaper that defines AQ, and details not only the levels but also the steps needed to move from one level of maturity to the next.
From Novice to Master: Understanding the Analytics Quotient Maturity Model, is an informative resource for anyone involved in analytics.
