Over the past three weeks I have written on this blog a number of posts relating to outsourcing as a business strategy. My first post posed the question, is outsourcing as a business strategy more than a simple cost reduction exercise? Within my second post, I touched on ways to position the merits of outsourcing to a CFO or CEO.
A very nice way to bring these two perspectives together is to share insights, directly from a CIO, and client of IBM, who has first-hand experience of the advantages realised through outsourcing.
In this short video, Paul Williams, Vice President of Information Technology at Campbell Arnott’s, provides some his insights into the quantifiable results that have stemmed from his organisation’s move to outsourced services. Paul provides compelling commentary in outlining how trends such as the increasing speed of networks accompanied by the decreasing cost of establishing, operating and maintaining these networks has fundamentally shifted the cost/benefit equation in favor of a move to outsourced services.
For me, the take-away message from the video, is that IT managers and CIO’s need to continually monitor industry trends and technological advances if they are to be best positioned to define the best IT strategy for their organisation. What may have not been the appropriate direction to take years, or in some case months ago, may now present an enormous opportunity for the organisation. Follow the link below to watch the video:
