Of the many announcements made this week at Lotusphere 2012, the one that resonated most with our readers was the new IBM SmartCloud for Social Business – a re-branding and expansion of what you now know as IBM LotusLive cloud-based collaboration offerings. The key take-aways from this announcement:
IBM also announced that the next generation of its social networking platform, IBM Connections, will incorporate sophisticated analytics and real-time data monitoring – so that organizations can quickly analyze the flood of data generated by social interactions, integrate it with data from other sources, and make faster, better decisions on the fly. Which apparently impressed more at least two people at the show.
Honorable mention: Oh puh-lease, Oracle. Even in the midst of an ‘all Lotusphere, all the time’ new cycle this week, IBMer Conor O’Mahony’s methodical (and revealing) dismantling of a recent Oracle marketing claim got plenty of attention. Check it out.
