Today's post is from Carmit Mashiah, Software Product Manager.
The IBM Innovate 2012 conference is coming up June 3-7.
Application security continues to be a major focus for many application developers. This year's application security track will provide valuable knowledge to customers who are facing the challenge of delivering secure mobile and web applications. The track will have more than 15 sessions and will introduce innovative, emerging technologies straight out of IBM Security research labs as well as highlights from the newest release of IBM Security AppScan (formerly, Rational). The track kick-off will reveal how security intelligence can be applied to application security and other mission-critical security vectors.
The application security track features real-world case studies from current AppScan customers, who kindly agreed to share their successful experiences with IBM Security AppScan solutions and how they were able to better manage security risks in their organizations. You will not want to miss the "Case Study: USDA Showcases Best Practices for Automating Security Source Code Scanning as Part of Continuous Integration." I've previewed this session and was impressed with the millions of lines of source code they scan automatically. Everyone should attend this session as USDA offers a clear and simple success story. If you are just starting to build your application security program, you should also attend the "Allstate Case Study: Better Managing Security Risks in Software Development Lifecycle with People, Process, Technology Using IBM Rational AppScan" and "Case Study: IBM Adopts Secure Development Practices." Both of these presentations will feature best practices and lessons learned, with valuable advice from experienced Application Security program leaders.
I'm also looking forward to the session titled "Just tell me what I need to do." This session highlights five key steps to help any organization tackle application security without blowing their budget. This presentation can help organizations frame their application security program, and come up with an approach that is right for their organization.
Finally, the Innovate 2012 application security track would not be complete without tackling mobile application security. IBM will offer multiple sessions that investigate the implications of developing and deploying applications to new mobile platforms such as iOS and Android, and how new IBM technologies can help.
Join us at the conference to hear these topics and more. The IBM Innovate 2012 application security track experience offers vital information that each and every attendee can take back and share with their co-workers.
