Helping IBM Business Partners Develop Their Social Media Savvy

Last year, IBM launched a new skills initiative to help it's Business Partners get started with social media. Fast forward to 2011, and the company is taking that skills initiative to a whole new level, with an upgraded library of digital assets, as well as a number of face-to-face opportunities, to help Business Partners increase their social savvy.
So, what's new, you ask? Here are five new ways to access the social media enablement available to all IBM Business Partners:
1 - Visit the Expanded Social Media Enablement Library on PartnerWorld
As part our skills initiative, last year we launched the first iteration of our Getting Started with Social Media pages on PartnerWorld. Based on both partner feedback, those resources have now been greatly expanded. (As an aside, we've also upped the visual appeal and navigability significantly, too.) Here's a look at what PartnerWorld now has to offer:
The Getting Started with Social Media pages are intended to be a hub for all IBM Business Partner social media enablement, so if you're looking for a particular type of resource, this is the place to start. We think you'll agree that this is the most comprehensive collection of social media enablement for business partners available through IBM to date.
2 - Watch the Social Soundbyte Video Series on YouTube
For those Business Partners who are looking for more information on best practices that can be implemented across a social media program, IBM also has a new Social Soundbyte video series on the IBM Software Business Partners YouTube Channel. The series is intended to provide short videos with actionable tips that will take a business partner's social media strategy to the next level. The first three videos in the series are now available, so check them out:
3 - View the Making Sense of Social Business and Social Networking Webcast Series
Members of the PartnerWorld Community on ibm.com have access to a series of webcast on Making Sense of Social Media and Social Networking that lay out the foundations of social media, as well as demonstrate how to integrate those activities into the marketing mix, event promotion and lead generation activities. The series was launched in early 2011, and based on popular demand, the PartnerWorld Community has been adding new webcasts on a quarterly basis. Replays of webcasts past can be accessed at any time through the community's discussion forum, but definitely keep your eyes peeled for more to come as well.
4 - Chat with IBM Experts Face-to-Face to Learn More About Social Media
New in 2011, Business Partner attendees at any of the IBM Software global conferences have an opportunity to meet face-to-face with IBM social media experts through the Business Partner Cafe. The Business Partner Cafe is a space adjoining the Expo floor at all of the global conferences, designed to help Business Partners connect with IBM subject matter experts. The cafe features face-to-face, one-on-one access to a host of experts, including those well versed in social media strategy and execution, who can answer business partner questions and provide customized advice. The Cafes also provide informal workshops where business partners can learn more in a group setting. The exact enablement schedule differs from conference to conference, so check the individual conference websites for details.
5 - Share Your IBM Business Partner Social Media Success Stories
IBM often gets credit in the press for doing innovative things with social media (see 7 Twitter Marketing Campaigns to Learn From, Why The IBM Watson Jeopardy Challenge is the Greatest B2B Campaign Ever for recent examples). However, many people do not realize that our business partners are doing some equally innovative things in their own right. We want to recognize these partners, so we're currently calling all IBM Business Partners to submit their Social Media Success Stories. Once collected, these stories will be compiled and highlighted in order to show your clients why IBM Business Partners are at the cutting edge of their field, and to serve as an example to other IBM Business Partner who want to learn from each others' best practices.
