IBM Cognos BI 8.4.0 and later IBM Cognos software releases follow IBM policy regarding End of Service (EOS). IBM announces, via a Release for Announcement and/or News item, the EOS date of a software release a minimum of twelve (12) months in advance of the date.
Cognos BI 8.4.1 will reach EOS on September 30, 2013. At that time, we will no longer be able to provide you with call logging and defect fixes for this software release without the purchase of a service extension to go along with your current subscription and support agreement. An overview of the IBM software lifecycle policy as well as link to the EOS announcement for BI 8.4.1 are included below.
We strongly recommend that you upgrade to a more recent release of the software, including the recently released IBM Cognos BI 10.2. We have Upgrade Services offered by our IBM Software Group Business Analytics Lab Services group to help you both plan and implement the upgrade. If an upgrade is not possible at this time, there are options available to help you, as long as your company has a valid Subscription and Support agreement in place for the software. These include:
- Self-assist options are available through the Cognos Upgrade Central portal. Technotes remain published for customers to reference. In addition, you can take advantage of the Forums available on developerWorks to pose questions and get answers to your issues from software experts.
- Obtain a service extension, available for an additional fee. Please contact your IBM account representative if you would like to pursue this option.
