We are contacting our Clarity clients to ensure that they are aware of the software support changes taking effect the end of this calendar year.
As of December 31st 2012 Clarity version 6.x and earlier will no longer be supported. As an active registered user of Clarity, your company has access to the latest version, Clarity 7.2. This new version has significant enhancements including a faster engine, support for Office 2010, support for SQL Server 2008, and the inclusion of Clarity Studio to create Template and Reports.
The level of effort to upgrade from an earlier version to the latest Clarity 7.2 is dependent on the complexity and customization within your existing Templates and Reports environment. In order to assist your company to address this, IBM is offering the Clarity Upgrade Initiate package to quickly and easily understand the related effort involved in upgrading.
The Upgrade Initiate package includes:
- an analysis of the current environment
- installation of latest Clarity version on an existing server
- transfer of up to 10 templates and 10 reports
- testing and validation
- recommendations for next steps
The first step in the Upgrade Initiate is a discussion with the IBM experts and your company to analyze the current environment. We will evaluate hardware and system requirements. We will also provide recommendations in the selection of the templates and reports to initiate for this service. The Upgrade Initiate package includes up to 10 Templates and 10 Reports.
The second step in the Upgrade Initiate is the installation of the latest Clarity version on a previously configured server (MSSQL, Essbase, or TM1). Once Clarity has been installed and configured, the current database along with the reports and templates will be transferred to the new Clarity 7 environment. The environment is tested and validated to ensure the new environment is operating optimally.
After the installation, configuration, transfer, and testing of the new environment, the third step is to assess the selected templates and reports via a multi-level score card. Each template and report is checked for compilations of errors, data load, data save, and verification of any special customized code or script is functioning. The results are recorded in a coloured score card for review with the client.
The last step is to present the findings to the client including IBM’s recommendations and options for addressing any issues with your team. This could also include a go forward plan which outlines activities, roles and responsibilities. Estimated effort will be based on the finding from the templates and reports tested, and number of overall templates and reports in current use.
