This week IBM is hosting the Information on Demand Conference in Las Vegas, known simply as IOD or if you think in tweets, #IBMIOD. The theme this year is big, as in, Think Big. The conference kicks off with a big start today; ending on the 25th. We are expecting lots of big things to happen with over 12 thousand people in attendance and lots of you will be talking, learning and tweeting. Big data, analytics and a big focus on how cloud computing is affecting IT and business are all hot topics being discussed at IOD this year. In this blog post, we'd like you to also think about these big topics: Middleware and Mobile. Following the recent WebSphere announcements, IBM PureSystems launch and IBM Mobile launch earlier this month, IOD is offering track roadmaps that offer a closer look at these big topics.
First, look at the Decision Management Roadmap featured on the IOD Facebook page. These sessions provide a comprehensive approach to achieve better business outcomes through process innovation, master data management and operational decision management. Think big about your business processes. Which is more important, the data or the process? Are you using case management to design more collaboration and insight through workflow? Do you have best practices for driving optimal decisions from an operational and analytical perspective? How can you connect and integrate information across the business to unlock insights? The following sessions are recommended to dive into these big questions:
There is a great customer story from the banking and financial industry being presented at IOD. Learn how BNP Paribas took control of their data to provide consolidated services, new products and targeted promotions with MDM and ODM. Download this case study and be sure to find this session on Wednesday!
Middleware is a key part of your business and there are ways to learn how you can extend, transact and optimize your business with WebSphere. Software and hardware work together with integrated expertise in the new PureSystems family. Think big and achieve greater business agility through pattern optimized deployments and workloads with your data and apps. The following sessions are recommended to explore a big strategy for entering a new era of cloud computing.
Mobile is central to IT and business in this new era of computing. You must think big to not only grapple with security and access challenges but also to derive business value in the enterprise. Mobile requirements have shifted from nice to have to a hard requirement with BYOD and the "mobile first" approach to applications and solutions. Enterprise CIOs are must balance the needs of employees, demands of customers while enabling the business and IT to work seamlessly and securely. Think big about how to effectively harness mobile management and connectivity capabilities to face the new reality. You can find more about the Mobile BI and Mobile ECM roadmaps on the IOD Facebook page. Say hello to @TiffanyWinman at IOD; she posted a brief IBM Mobile at IOD preview today. Check out this session in particular:
We also invite you to network at IOD to gain the most value out of your conference experience. Share your ideas, challenges and experience with peers and IBMers. There are key areas to visit in the IOD Expo Hall to meet other cool people who Think Big about big data with middleware, cloud and mobile. First, drop by the Business Agility Zone at booth 409. You can meet experts covering many of the WebSphere topics from the sessions above including BPM, ODM, PureApp, WTCF and Connectivity. Next, IBM Mobile experts are featuring Mobile Foundation, Lifecycle, Security and Access solutions and service in the Mobile Zone in booth 405.
Last but not least, you have the first chance to see the new IBM Messaging Appliance and InfoSphere Streams in action in person. They are combined into an integrated solution which is being shown at the Demo Center, Big Data station 4 pedestal in the Expo Hall. (enter the demo center and go to the left). This is very cool because it is a messaging appliance designed for the "Internet of Things" with applications for mobile, financial and other solutions that demand you to think big - for scale, volume, latency. It includes support for MQTT, MQ, Message broker and the Mobile pack for Worklight. For example, Facebook is a big user of the MQTT protocol for Messenger with 350M users on 475 different mobile operators.
Break out your your mobile device to add these sessions and locations to your schedule with the IOD SmartSite site or app. It's easy to use; just search for speaker names. What are you waiting for?
