Becoming a Mobile Enterprise is a key challenge for most business and IT organizations. But what does it actually mean, becoming a Mobile Enterprise? And what will becoming a Mobile Enterprise do to existing systems and processes?
Is this even a relevant question to ask?
To me, "mobile first" is all about the user experience. Recent experience tells us that the mobile consumers have even less patience than the consumers in the past, in fact most people use less than one minute in a mobile app before they move on to something else. So first of all, becoming a Mobile Enterprise means giving up any ideas of big monolithic applications, small and flexible is king in the mobile universe. But secondly, where does the functionality behind these small mobile applications come from? It is tempting to say "this is a brand new world and we have to create from scratch" - it just isn't practical. It isn't practical because we cannot, in most cases, afford to start over - and it isn't practical because most interesting mobile app's require data that reside in existing systems and data sources.
We look forward to seeing you in Orlando!
