The latest version of WebSphere Application Server (WAS), V8.5 Beta - Liberty Profile, is now available via free download. If you think you already know WAS, this version may surprise you. The WAS V8.5 Beta - Liberty Profile, is small, fast and free, because you told us that’s what you wanted.
The Liberty profile facilitates the development and test of web, mobile and OSGi apps. What’s interesting about it is that it launches just the features your application needs dynamically, keeping the footprint small and providing the fastest possible start-up. You can automatically update the server without stops and restarts. And when you need to restart, it takes less than five seconds. Building apps with the WAS V8.5 Beta - Liberty Profile provides fidelity with the WAS portfolio when higher levels of service are required.
Another part of WAS V8.5 Beta – Liberty Profile we think you’ll like is its ease of configuration. Not only can you do a single XML config file, you can also create a more modular config, whichever meets your needs. This makes it easy to share as necessary so you can manage version control or componentize configuration across a larger and dispersed development team.
If you thought you’d have to try Tomcat or GlassFish, stop! You now have an option from IBM that is lean and mean AND scales when you need it to. WAS V8.5 Beta - Liberty Profile is designed to blow your mind…let us know if we did at wasdev.net.
