We live in a world of unprecedented opportunity, caused by change, complexity and uncertainty. Whether it’s the coordination of a vast network of suppliers, automation of processes to manage a supply chain, or tools which help monitor and optimize performance, organizations must regain control of their business.
This unstable landscape has redefined business as usual, where change is the new norm. Market shifts favor the most nimble and creative of businesses. They come in the form of escalating customer expectations, a competitive landscape where nascent companies can be as formidable as established companies, and where technological advancements are empowering individuals like never before.
Forward thinking companies will embrace this heightened state of instability to deliver greater business value to their consumers, constitutes, patients, and prospects. Complexity should not be viewed as a burden to be avoided; we see it as a catalyst and an accelerator to create innovation and new ways of delivering value. Companies are tapping into information across the entire network to resolve problems and better service customers. They are flexible and more responsive to the fluctuating business environment. They are constantly innovating across business processes to streamline, automate, and connect disjointed activities. And they have the operational dexterity to rapidly address new market opportunities.
The businesses that do not value agility and take the necessary steps to maximize their IT infrastructure will become static, rigid, monolithic, fragile, and ultimately, get left behind.
The problem is most business technology solutions are narrowly focused on specific tasks, and do not have capabilities to move a business forward. They focus more on “good enough” technologies that suffer from a lack of depth and vision to support agile businesses.
IBM provides the platform and tools which let companies integrate and capitalize on the complexity that inundate businesses on a daily basis, and identify ways to simplify their internal process in service of end customer experience and overall company value.
IBM’s Business Agility software and services drive business integration and optimization, from within the four walls of a company, to the extended, dynamic enterprise in the cloud. With the support to define an SOA strategy, businesses are able to turn a vision into an implementation roadmap, to establish the infrastructure that facilitates agility and change.
