In November of last year, I had the pleasure of talking with Sridhar Sudarsan, Chief Architect, Batch Processing Strategy, IBM Software Group. You can read our interview here: Java Batch - An Interview with Sridhar Sudarsan.
In that interview, Sridhar talked about how important batch processing is today as the need to cost-effectively process large quantities of data becomes more challenging with increased data volumes and higher customer expectations. He stressed the need to design for and provide an always-on environment for batch and OLTP workloads and talked about the growing popularity of Java as a programming language for batch use.
Now, there are a couple of ways you can hear more about Batch processing and talk with Sridhar directly.
In this webcast followed by live Q&A, Sridhar will provide an overview of batch processing and discuss common batch scenarios. He will show how a continuous interleaving of bulk and real-time processing maximizes the balance between operational efficiency and market efficiency. Sridhar will discuss the batch processing reference model and how WebSphere batch offerings map to that model. He will demonstrate how WebSphere Batch solutions provide an environment and infrastructure for efficiently running mixed workloads in Java. In addition, Sridhar will describe how WebSphere Compute Grid, which is production ready with many customers running mission critical Batch workloads, provides capabilities for development to accelerate time-to-value for clients.
Register for the webcast with Sridhar today!
(Hint: You only have to register once—you can return to WebSphere Binarium as often as you would like to view new materials, see demos and talk with peers.)
2. Another way you can learn more about Batch and talk directly with peers and subject matter experts is to attend Impact 2011. And this year, we’re also offering the WebSphere Unconference where you can set the agenda!
Plan to attend Impact 2011, where you can learn about the latest technology trends in over 500 technical sessions, deep dives and hands-on labs. In addition, the WebSphere Unconference for developers provides an opportunity for you to present and discuss the topics that interest you the most. At the WebSphere Unconference, you set the agenda.
