Soon, there will be more mobile devices – smartphones and tablets – than people on earth. And those devices never leave our side, with research reporting that 91% of mobile users keep their device at arm’s reach 100% of the time*.
When applied to the banking industry, this can translate into millions of transactions per day. When you deposit a check on your mobile device, it is easy to enter an incorrect digit or take a blurry picture. Discrepancies in the entry are typically identified later by the bank, hours after you have made your deposit.
For real time image quality and data match, Ready Apps submit the deposit to BPM for handling and awaits an online response from BPM in the cloud. Rules-driven image analysis is applied, usable images are screened, and replacement image if needed is triggered.
With BPM, a bank can benefit from greater flexibility in processing exception handling and reconcilement processes and managing volume. This advantage expands as core banking and teller systems, document handling databases and analytics engines are ported to BPM. BPM can also be combined with the mobile device’s GPS location and used to call fraud analytics rules to screen for patterns and fraud. And assurance of the deposit reduces the potentially heated back-and-forth with customers as they try to parse out why a deposit amount cleared and then was later adjusted.
