This space has been created to provide you, the Business Partner community focused on midmarket clients, with a dynamic source of what's new from IBM in this market, where we're focusing our attention, resources you can leverage and a way to voice your opinions on what we're doing.
A little background on me. My name is Robb Verna and I'm responsible for IBM's public partner programs focused on the small and medium business (SMB) marketplace. Real world translation = I manage 2 programs designed to provide IBM partners with SMB specific information, tools & benefits called PartnerWorld Express Advantage (PWEA)

emblem initiative. My team and I are really excited about this opportunity to engage our partners in a collaborative manner and look forward to hearing what you have to say.
So, without further ado, I'd like to kick things off by sharing some thoughts on our newly redesigned WW PartnerWorld Express Advantage site that went live last week.
For those of you who have never been there, PartnerWorld Express Advantage (PWEA) is a subset of the PartnerWorld website that is focused specifically on the SMB marketplace. Just look for the "Small and medium business" link on the lefthand side of any PartnerWorld Web page or go to ibm.com/partnerworld/smb. PWEA has been around for 7 years & grown from a simple portal focused on North American Express hardware to a diverse set of products & solutions resources across 50 countries. With IBM's launch of the Smarter Planet strategy for the midmarket space, we needed to redesign the site so it aligns with the new direction. While we were at it, we updated & refreshed the interface so you can find these resources more easily.
Let's take a look at the new, easier to navigate interface. You'll notice from the before & after screen shots that we made a pretty drastic reduction in the amount of information on the screen. However, by using a new "leaf" design, we actually provide you with more information than before, only it's much easier to find what you need. Each leaf is accessed by clicking one of the small boxes in the light blue bar:
- Welcome features resources supporting IBM's midmarket strategy - Industry solutions, Infrastructure solutions, products and services & Smarter Planet
- News & Media aggregates important information like SMB sales incentives & EA launch materials + Express Advantage advertising information & social media activities.
- End-to-end strategy is an exciting new addition where users link directly to MM specific resources across the sales cycle.
In addition to the interface, we changed how we organize our partner resources. Content used to be grouped together based on "what it is" - benefits, marketing initiatives, etc. Unfortunately, that legacy design was really inefficient because resources supporting a common focus area (ex: banking industry) were spread out on 5 different places. So, we aligned the site by "what it's about", mapped to IBM's midmarket strategy:
- Smarter Planet
- Industry solutions
- Infrastructure solutions
- Products and services (Express Advantage offerings)
All channel enablement benefits & marketing initiatives that used to be spread across the site are organically blended into these 4 major areas, so you can find everything we offer on a specific topic in 1 place. Sounds like a no-brainer, but it took a long time to figure out all the details of moving the content to new places.
All of this is available to North American partners & will soon be launching across EMEA, Latin America & Asia Pacific. Stay tuned!
