Great technical innovations often are molded and born in times of uncertainty. As regional economies the world over adjust to new realities, there are opportunities for companies to lead and change the game.
A recent article in Forbes details some recommended ways to take the lead. At the core of enabling this change are social capabilities and the necessary understanding, business process adjustments, and cultural shifts to turn those practices into financial results.
We find there is still a fair amount of confusion in the marketplace between the “icing” of social media and the “cake” of social business. The real transformative change will take place within the company in how these social capabilities are used to advance business objectives and process change, to win new markets and find the best talent. This is where the social business patterns – business process flows with value-producing actions -- help companies get traction on their own journey to becoming a social business. The new white paper on the topic, showing the results of other enterprises that have implemented changes already, is titled “Patterns in achieving social business success by leading and pioneering organizations.”
Each of the six patterns detailed in the paper can help businesses improve on challenges they face today:
To help IBM Business Partners get started with Social Patterns
Since rolling out Social Business Patterns at the beginning of April with our direct sellers, we found in May that 50% of the deals they closed started with one of the Social Business Patterns. We want our Business Partners to reap the same benefits in driving deals to closure.
Leveraging the Social Business Patterns will allow you to go from a technical discussion to a conversation with the customer to address the pain or business problem they are having and demonstrate how Social Business can help them. It will help you turn the conversation into a business discussion showing the approach that IBM takes and providing them with examples of customers who are using this approach along with practical information about how they are using it.
By using and understanding Social Business Patterns, you will have a business value discussion that is not technically focused so that you can help explain what Social Business can do for your customers.
